KA-RaceIng designs and builds a fully electric race car to compete in Formula Student. As an
Electrical Wiring Engineer, you will take full responsibility for the vehicle’s electrical
interconnections, including the design, planning, modeling, and manufacturing of wiring
harnesses. You will ensure that all electronic components, ECUs, and sensors are reliably
connected, optimally routed, and fully integrated into the vehicle.
This role
combines CAD modeling, electrical planning, hands-on assembly, and system integration,
making it ideal for students who want to work at the intersection of electronics, vehicle
systems, and practical engineering. You will model harnesses in PTC Creo and EPLAN, define
plug placement, and manufacture harnesses that are safe, lightweight, and robust.
What will be your tasks?
- Design and model the vehicle’s wiring harnesses in PTC
Creo and EPLAN
- Plan and optimize electronic interconnections between
ECUs, sensors, and actuators
- Define plug placement, cable routing, and connector
interfaces to ensure accessibility and safety
- Manufacture, assemble, and test the wiring harnesses for
the vehicle
- Collaborate with the powertrain, battery and embedded
electronics to ensure integration and reliability
- Optimize harnesses for weight, reliability, and ease of
maintenance
- Document designs, wiring diagrams, and assembly
instructions
What will you achieve in this role?
- Hands-on experience in vehicle wiring harness design,
modeling, and manufacturing
- Practical skills in PTC Creo, EPLAN, and electrical
system design
- Understanding of ECU interconnections, sensor networks,
and vehicle electronics integration
- Experience in designing for safety, reliability, and
manufacturability
- Direct contribution to the performance and reliability of
a Formula Student electric race car
- A strong technical portfolio in electrical systems
engineering
